Elasto Painters reloaded

Oct 2, 2026

VETERAN guard Stanley Pringle, star sentinel Felix Pangilinan-Lemetti and versatile forward Leonard Santillan are ready to retool the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters once the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup resumes next week. The Elasto Painters had already given a glimpse of what to expect in the remainder of the season as Pringle, Lemetti and Santillan showed up in the team’s out-of-town tuneup game in Candon a few days ago when Rain or Shine scored a 98-94 victory over TNT. Pringle, acquired in the off season but barely saw action for the team, will now have an opportunity to showcase what he can do in reuniting with head coach Yeng Guiao, his former mentor in the national team. In 2018, Pringle was included in the Rain or Shine-backed national team that played in the Jakarta Asian Games where the Philippines fell short of making the medal round. Now at the tailend of his career, the 39-year-old Pringle has something to prove and he believes playing for the Elasto Painters where everyone are given opportunities to shine will be a welcome development for him. Pringle will be bringing in his wealth of experience to a young Rain or Shine squad, that is also excited for the return of two of its mainstays — Lemetti and Santillan. Lemetti suffered a partial ACL tear last April, but is now ready to go. He has been a solid force in the backcourt for the Elasto Painters. Last conference, when the team fell short of reaching the championship round and lost to Barangay Ginebra in six games of their best-of-seven semifinals series, he averaged 11.3 points per game. Santillan, on the other hand, was sidelined by a fractured hand injury. The long PBA break somehow allowed him to recover and he is excited to return to action. Prior to the PBA break, Rain or Shine had won four of six games, including an 85-83 win over Meralco last Aug. 2. While some of the young stars were spending time with their recovery from separate injuries, the young blood of Rain or Shine was able to step up as head coach Yeng Guiao was able to get key contributions from rookie Deo Cuajao, Caelan Tiongson and the fully recovered Luis Villegas. Cuajao averaged 10.83 points per game, becoming the most productive newcomer so far for the Elasto Painters, while Tiongson was solid on both ends of the court, averaging 10.50 points and close to five rebounds. Undoubtedly, the biggest bulk of production came from Adrian Nocum, the team’s acknowledged star, who was acquired by Gilas Pilipinas to play in the Asian Games, and of course, returning reinforcement Aaron Fuller. In six games in the tournament, Nocum produced with a near double-double average of 17.67 points and 7.17 assists per game while also coming away with four rebounds per outing. Such numbers were significant to the pride of Tondo in becoming the franchise’s next biggest star as fans had started to love and adore this young guard. Fuller, on the other hand, has been an old reliable for Guiao, but he has unfinished business to fulfill, In his last tour of duty, he helped the Elasto Painters reached the semifinal round, but lost to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and TNT. This time, Fuller wants to take advantage, especially now that Hollis-Jefferson and Barangay Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee are still recuperating from injuries.
