MANILA, Philippines — Colegio de San Juan de Letrán bounced back from a loss to San Beda University by overpowering Lyceum of the Philippines University, 96-86, in the crossover round of the NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball tournament on Thursday afternoon at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. Letran improved to a 4-2 win-loss record, tied with Arellano University, while Lyceum fell to 1-5. Titing Manalili, who suffered a right knee injury with 1:55 to go in the game, finished with a double-double performance of 23 points and 12 assists for Letran. “We know Titing, and his work ethic on his workouts, he can bounce back on this. We hope it’s nothing serious, and we know that Titing is the face of Letran and we just need to improve more going into the late stretch of the game,” Letran head coach Allen Ricardo said after the game. Letran led by as much as 21 points in the third quarter, 76-55, before Lyceum tried to mount a comeback in the fourth period. However, John Estrada scored key baskets for the Knights to quench the Pirates rally. Estrada finished with 25 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while Denzil Walker and Chad Gammad added 15 and 12 markers, respectively for the Knights. Lyceum was led by Matthew Rubico who collected 21 points, four rebounds and six assists while Roger Ondoa added 17 points.
