Tianjin Quanjin advances in Asian Champions League

Tianjin Quanjin became the third Chinese team to reach the knockout stage of the Asian Champions League after beating Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol 3-2

SEOUL, South Korea — Tianjin Quanjin became the third Chinese team to reach the knockout stage of the Asian Champions League after beating Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol 3-2 Wednesday.

Tianjin finished second in Group E to advance. Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG have also reached the last 16, while only Shanghai Shenhua failed to make it through.

South Korean club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors also advanced and finished first in the group after beating Hong Kong team Kitchee 3-0.

Group G

Already-eliminated Melbourne Victory became the first team to beat Shanghai SIPG in the first round, winning 2-1 in Group G.

In the other group match, Kawasaki Frontale finished winless after a 2-2 draw with Ulsan Hyundai.

Ulsan advanced to the last 16 along with Shanghai.
